I have been teaching the flute for over 21 years and in that time have helped many children and adults experience the fun and huge sense of achievement that learning a musical instrument can bring. The flute is a responsive instrument and with correct tuition a beginner can expect to be able to play simple, recognisable tunes within a short time frame. All woodwind instruments encourage good breathing techniques and it is well documented that playing helps asthma sufferers.
Music is a rewarding hobby; it can be the beginning of a career in music and provides students with ample opportunity to play in orchestras and ensemble groups. I enjoy teaching the flute to all levels and welcome those who have already had lessons and students who would like to try the flute for the first time - it's never too late to start!
Teaching has always been a pleasure for me, whether it is a complete beginner nervously trying a flute for the first time, or an established player wanting to expand their knowledge and improve their technique - both present with differing needs and can expect supportive and targeted advice and guidance along the way.
If you are considering learning to play the flute I can offer you enthusiastic, fun and effective lessons playing various genres: classical, jazz, swing, blues and pop! I incorporate elements of theory, scales and arpeggios and aural training into each lesson to encourage a broader understanding of music. I regularly enter my students for exams with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and have a 100% successful pass rate of which I am very proud.
If you would like to start your musical journey then please contact me today. I am pleased to offer a free 20 minute 'taster' session to new students, so we can meet informally and discuss your individual requirements. If you haven't tried the flute before this is an ideal time to trial a flute without further commitment. Lessons are available at my home in Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire, or at a location of your choice.

I attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, and achieved a Performers Diploma of Licentiateship in 1995 (LLCM).
I have taught many adults and children from beginner through to Grade 8 and beyond! I offer fun and effective lessons catered to my pupil's needs. I teach the complete ABRSM syllabus and have a super pass rate.
Regular weekly lessons are available (term time) or short-term contracts specifically tailored to assist with examinations can be arranged. Online lessons can be arranged via Skype (or similar) for those not living in the locality.

I decided to rekindle my flute playing, having had a considerable break from playing as a child. I found Suzanne, who was supportive and very responsive from the start.
As an adult learner, I'm very hard on myself. Having not played for years, and almost fearful I had lost all my knowledge, I needed help to get back into the swing of things and I found Suzanne hugely encouraging. My very first lesson was such an amazing accomplishment and I couldn't have done it without Suzanne. If only I had found her sooner!
I love going to my lessons, playing new pieces and duets and I thoroughly enjoy the development and sense of achievement I get. Suzanne gives lots of feedback and encouragement. If you're looking to reignite a love of your flute or want to try it, I cannot recommend Suzanne enough.Emma, Student
